In 70's and 80's, Harvey Pekar, a file clerk, tells his life in the American underground comic book entitled "American Splendor".

In 2003, the actor Paul Giamatti is a hero everyman Harvey Pekar.

Joe Daly the realist

Joe Daly (born 23 March 1979) is a comic book artist from South Africa. Born in London, United Kingdom, Daly studied animation for two years at Cape Town's City Varsity. His first American work was entitled "Scrublands", and was described as "introverted dreamlike stream-of-consciousness" and "over-the-top postmodern vaudevillian".

He created "The red monkey" and "Dungeon Quest".
